No, I’m not talking about those cute yet strange novelty house plants that grow to look like Scooby Doo’s head or Spongebob Squarepants. (However they do derive from where I’m getting at). I’m talking about chia seeds. Oh yes, these little things have been taking over the health world, one chia pudding picture at a time.
What are Chia seeds and do they taste good?
These little bad boys pack a mean nutritional punch! They are very high in fiber. *eat 1 ounce per day so stomach doesn’t get upset. They’re also rich in magnesium, calcium, iron, protein, and vitamins, A, B, D, & E. They help keep you fuller, and you can sprinkle them or ground them in almost everything. Seriously anything (smoothies, lemonades, chia bars, pudding, chia pop, mousse, and even in water and yogurt). Chia seeds provide extra energy, improve blood sugar level, and boosts up endurance! The best thing about chia seeds are is that they’re practically tasteless which is great news for picky eaters. They taste like poppy seeds.
They can adsorb 12 times their weight in water which gives you that full feeling. They hail in two different colors from black to white, each tasting the same so there is no difference. They come in oils, bran, ground, and last but not least the seed. The coolest tip about chia’s is that they can be a substitute for eggs. 1 tablespoon of ground seeds with three tablespoons water for egg-like awesomeness!
Readers, Chia seeds are now taking over the world, one awesome recipe at a time. Chia seeds are very easy to find! Check out your local Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s or even Publix! May I suggest chia pudding? Sprinkle some raspberries and a dollop of whipped cream for added deliciousness!
